Water sports and power boating

All types of water sports are possible on the lake which is formed as part of the Waikato river, the longest in New Zealand. Originating in Lake Taupo, the river is a natural playground for power-boating activities - water skiing, wake-boarding or jet-skiing. Or if all that is too much, take a swim or just cool off on the shores bathed in fresh water.

Enjoy water-skiing, wake-boarding, jet-skiing, fishing or just swimming in Mangakino

Kayaking

A more leisurely way to explore the waterways is by kayak. Kayak rental is available from Tranquility Tours and guided tours are also available. See the hydro dams, scenic streams, wildlife, forests and farmland surrounding the river. A night paddle to see the glow-worms is also highly recommended!
